Who We Are:
We are more than a clan, we're a community, a brotherhood, and more importantly a family. The Over 30 Clan was founded in 2010 by The1UrLookin4. In early 2014 the reigns were handed over to BlackDeath who now owns and operates the community as a 501c non profit. To put it simply the Over 30 Clan is an online community for adults 30+ years old to share interests and play video games together. As we start 2018 we have over 1400 registered members. Our ranks include all walks of life including single folks, moms, dads, veterans, you name it. All of whom are looking for a place to blow off some steam. We are a diverse community with members spanning the globe who game on various consoles / platforms (Xbox, Playstation, and even PC players). We have some REALLY talented gamers but that is NOT a requirement to join! Whether you want to have a few drinks and play casual or you're determined to melt faces we have something for everyone.

What We Do:
PTFO (Play The F@#%ing Objective). This is our clan motto. Have you ever rage quit over some clueless random(s) on your team? Do you typically mute your mic and/or turn off in game chat because the lobby sounds like the halls of a middle school? Well then the Over 30 Clan is for you! We focus on objective play, communication, team work, and most importantly having fun! We've made up silly challenges like riot shield and rocket launchers or tomahawk only classes, all while playing the objective and winning....often! We play, some of us drink / smoke, but we have fun!

What We Play:
The most popular game series we've been known to play: Call of Duty, Destiny, and Battlefield. This isn't to say that's all we play - just about everyone will take a break and try something new and different from time to time. In the past we've had events for GTA V, Forza, and even online Poker nights. Chances are if you post about a game you want to play on our forum you'll get some folks to join you.

Accolades / Accomplishments:
We were at one time ranked the #1 Heavyweight clan for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Domination game mode! We've also scrimmaged against some famous teams including players like oTrademark, Wickedscrapnel, and PWNSTARS. We're also a featured community on the Overdog app which you can find on the Xbox One store.

How do I join?

1) Be 30+ years old (In RARE instances we have made exceptions - this is why every applicant must be voted in by the community. If you don't make the cut please don't take it personal).
2) Register for an account
2) APPLY (must complete step 2, be logged in, click 'Apply' at the top of the page then scroll down to view the application questions ***an application is REQUIRED to become a member***

In order to become a part of the Over 30 Clan you must register an account on our forum (email validation required / CHECK YOUR SPAM). Once registered we require that you fill out a short application by clicking the Apply tab at the top. Complete step by step instructions can be found HERE (be sure to scroll down after following that link). The application process is a quick and easy way for everyone to get acquainted. Applications are typically processed within 24 to 48 hours. Until you are approved you'll have limited access to the site. If you're still in a "Validating" state you can post questions, comments, and concerns in the guest forum HERE.

If all else fails here's a step by step video on how to join.

In no way am I attempting to rain on your parade Mathoid, especially as we're not all as lucky as you to get their very own pinned post!!
In the days of the Xbox 360 I used to hang with the OTC (Old Timers Clan) and one thing we came up with for this very issue was a "Welcoming Committee" it was a group of about 6 whose primary role was to send friend requests to and jump online with the newbies and effectively "hold their hand" for a couple of sessions until they felt more acquainted with the membership. I know this might sound a little over the top because as you rightly say, we are all adults...but there are probably some out there who aren't comfortable with jumping in with fellow o30c members.
Like I said, hopefully not treading on any toes...just the thoughts of an old man!?!
Cheers

I've wondered if we should do something like that as well. Having a full blown welcoming committee may be a bit too organized/commitment-laden for the spirit of this clan, but at the very least, it could be helpful to have a list somewhere of people on each system (PC, XB1, PS4) that are ok with helping FNGs take those first steps. It would be especially useful for people new to online gaming who are afraid of sounding stupid asking questions about how to send friend requests, what Discord is, etc. I remember feeling that way when I first started playing online, not knowing what the etiquette might be, and not wanting to bother people who were playing stuff.

Really, though, I'd be interested in hearing whether any FNGs would have found that useful or if it was clear enough at the outset who to contact for questions and how to get connected with other clan members.

I've dealt with these welcoming players before. it was ok, but in the end they group up with you for a week or so then they are too busy with other new players and then you back to where you were before. I remember one of the people described it as a job, which too me seems pretty crappy for them.

As a FNG myself, I think just a list of point people would be helpful, organized like a flow chart.  What system are you on?  And then a few FAQs, and a person to contact for further questions.  Probably just me, but it feels like that kind of stuff is a bit spread out?

And this will just show how incompetent I am with the Interwebs, but maybe a very short tutorial about how to operate on the forum?  What is a shout?  A reach around?  Using "@", etc.

Howdy all!  Thanks @Mathoid for the post.  I am extremely new.  ;)  Just applied Monday and got my Welcome email today!  I am doing lots of reading and joining and typing right now trying to familiarize myself with my new Clan.  I'm kinda a stick to myself kinda guy, but once I get to know folks, I can't stop typing or talking it seems.  That's probably my biggest flaw.  It does take me some time to warm up and gain the courage to do Voice Chat type stuff.  Last time I did that kinda thing was on a TeamSpeak server group with a Clan I was in way back in the Mid 2000s for the game Joint Ops.  That, IMHO, was way too organized and felt too much like being in the military for my taste, so I eventually left.  It was fun, but no one seemed to really care about really and truly welcoming new folks.  It was more of a hi, now here is your role in game, and do this.  See you next weekend.

So, and tips or tricks folks wanna share for better gaming and how to avoid those hacking players and so on, feel free to spam me.  I am really only playing SWBF1 and 2 on PC, but do own BF 2,3,4 and 1.  Can't afford to get any other games atm, but really just trying to play SWBF1 and earn all the Hutt contracts.  Seems when a new version of a game comes out, 90% of the players jump ship for the new version, and all but abandon the older version.  Which, in turn, makes it extremely difficult for the rest of us who aren't top tier gamers who finish these Hutt contacts in the first 3 months the game comes out, to get any of the rewards ourselves.

Anyhow, Thanks again for the post.  Already been chatted up in Discord, and feel welcomed.  So if you SWBF1 or 2, hit me up.  On weekends especially, my twin girls (17) and I are usually online, internet permitting, playing one or both of these two games.

Also, I try and play World of Warships, but really, really new to it, and only do the free stuff, none of the in-game purchasing.

As a FNG I just want to make it known that I’ve read and understood this PSA and I will be adding all my fellow PS4 30s and look forward to getting in game with you!

Yup, welcome to both of you! We definitely don't have rules around voice chat. At least not formal ones. There are some things that you just don't want to be doing because people will end up muting you. Examples include: talking over people a lot/never shutting up, playing music in the background, having other persistent background noise (e.g. roommate/spouse watching TV), having a static-y/echoing mic, eating into the mic, frequently being drunk/impaired and not being able to control your behavior, and having random non-o30s dropping into the party to say "whassup". I mean, it sounds like a lot, but it really just comes down to not being an asshat. We're usually good about letting people know that they are being an asshat, though, so I wouldn't worry about it ;)
